Here Goes

Dear World Wide Web,

I’m gearing up for some serious course building today. I picked a topic for my course that I’m feeling pretty dang excited about: Dinosaurs.

To start I will be using fairly minimal content, so that I can wade through each resource/activity with relative swiftness. I am already surprised at the bevy of information that is available via Moonami.com’s demo series as well as Moodle docs. You never have to feel alone when it comes to Moodle. And, of course, I have the most powerful resource of all… Shalimar! 😉

For starts, I’ve just filled in a little introductory blurb, added a fun image using the ‘Label’ resource, and added a moc syllabus via ‘File’.

One of my personal objectives is to make my course as visually pleasing and fluid as possible. I myself am an incredibly visual learner, and I am interested in creating a course space that is modern, colorful, and stimulating. The kind of online course that I would have enjoyed as a student.

First things first, I must learn how each resource functions and how to utilize them to the fullest, and I’m well on my way. I even created my first TeX expression to make an embedded answers (Cloze) quiz question!!

I think, that for more advanced Moodlers, this is no significant feat. But it’s more than I could do yesterday, and the takeaway point is this: If I can do it, you can too.

More breakthroughs to come!

Mary Moodling.
